Nokia N9 Now Available in Australia on pre-order

We seem to be increasingly close to the launch date of Nokia N9 - the phone is now gone for pre-order in Australia.

Online electronics retailer Harvey Norman is selling the phone without contract for $ 829 (which is about £ 542) for 16 GB, or you can pay $ 979 (£ 640) for the 64GB version.

It is certainly not cheap, but it is not far from the price you pay for Apple iPhone 4, which costs £ 428 for 8 GB and 16 GB for £ 510 pounds.

There is no actual date the phone will be launched, but the phone comes with a helmet without Nokia.

Since it was first launched earlier this year, we heard lots of rumors about when it is landing. More recently, the European launch has been attached to the September 15th Orange Switzerland.

There is still no news on whether the phone will come to Europe, the UK has been missed off the list 'Check Availability', apparently because Nokia wants to focus on Windows Mobile 7 in Western Europe.

We said this before, but we really hope Nokia comes the N9 in the UK. This is the most exciting phone Nokia has made in a long time.

Fashioned from a single piece of aluminum, without a single button and a screen with 3.9 inch AMOLED Super is a marvel of design. Check out our hands on Nokia N9 photos here.

But it is the operating system we're really interested in. This is the first handset commercially available to perform Meego, with three home screens: Multitasking, feed and New Menu. Moreover, there is an 8 megapixel camera, which can also can capture 720p HD video.

There is still no news if the Nokia N9 will never come in the UK, but we'll let you know if this development.
